Jason Crowley’s Story
Jason’s passion for finance and entrepreneurship started at a young age.
At age 7, Jason learned that his Morgan Stanley account was earning more interest than his Bank of America savings account. Jason had to take action. He immediately encouraged his financial advisor (aka dad, who was a financial advisor for 48 years) to transfer his Bank of America savings to his Morgan Stanley account. This was Jason’s first foray into financial arbitrage.
A week later, Jason received a “personal” note (or so he thought) from the Bank of America CEO asking to keep his business. Jason recalls feeling like he was a “big deal” and his passion for putting money to work has grown from there.
Jason recalls his first business venture at age 5, which was a home security system inspired by Home Alone. At that time, Radio Shack offered free batteries…
That same year, Jason started his lemonade franchise, partnering with his friends because he had the best supplier relationship in town (his mother, who passed along the lemonade supplies at no cost!).
While in college, Jason had internships at Northwestern Mutual and a boutique investment banking firm to gain exposure to all facets of finance.
After graduating from UC Santa Barbara summa cum laude with a degree in Business Economics and Accounting, Jason joined a boutique wealth management firm in Silicon Valley. He understood that his lack of experience (and baby face) would make it difficult to attract new wealth management clients. That’s when Jason realized that he needed to dedicate himself to identifying a niche and becoming the go-to expert if he was going to be successful. Jason understood intuitively that people need guidance the most when there is “money in motion,” such as a life transition.
After reconnecting with a highly regarded family law attorney (and his middle school basketball coach), Jason recognized that the missing ingredient in most divorces is financial expertise.
After dedicated himself to understanding the nuances of divorce finance, Jason founded Divorce Capital Planning in 2011.
After recognizing that mortgages were nothing more than an afterthought during divorce, Jason co-founded Divorce Mortgage Advisors in 2017 with his longtime friend, Ross Garcia.
Having spent nearly a decade advising divorcing clients, Jason realized that everyone going through divorce craves information, inspiration, and community. In 2018, Jason founded Survive Divorce to provide support through all stages of divorce. He’s committed to creating and curating the most practical, actionable tools and resources to help divorcing individuals transition successfully to the next chapter.
